To consolidate on the success of the first job fair, Oyo State is providing the youths with another platform to meet with employers. Youths will be given the opportunity to interact directly with employers & also gain entrepreneurial advice.

UNEMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA

Statistics from the National Population Commission (NPC) reported a population of about 167, 912, 561 as at October 2011. According to the Population reference Bureau, youths constitute about 43% of this population.

Some Contributory Factors To Unemployment

Recession.
Lack of required or specific skills by job-seekers.
Lack of information about available jobs.

Despite this huge growth in the population of the entire nation, unemployment has equally risen as the Ministry of Youth Development recently reported 68million youths as being unemployed. (Vanguard May 28, 2012)

AIMS OF THIS EVENT

The fair will enable recruiters and employers to disseminate information to the youths about career prospects and opportunities in their respective organizations and sectors, whilst suitably qualified applicants will be taken through their respective recruitment processes and successful candidates will eventually be offered jobs. It also aims to equip budding entrepreneurs with the necessary skills needed to succeed in the world of business.
